May 9-11 (Monday-Wednesday) Matt and Aaron went on a motorcycle trip around Tennessee (and into North Carolina) and had the time of their lives. As Aaron describes it he was "made for the road". Matt bought a motorcycle a few months back (Yamaha VStar 650), which Aaron rode, and he rented another to ride. They saw some of the most beautiful country Aaron has ever seen and loved the time out in the open. The night before they left we all watched "Wild Hogs" to prepare them for their trip. =P

They traveled a total of approximately 600 miles. Day 1 they went from Murfreesboro to Laurel Gulf Outlook, to a waterfall where they went swimming, and they stayed the night at a hotel in Chattanooga. Day 2 they went to Lookout Mountain, toured a Civil War site, and then drove Dragon's Tail Highway. It's on U.S. Route 129 where 11 miles of it is known as the Tail of the Dragon and has 318 curves--a rollercoaster ride through the Smoky Mountains at the Tennessee/North Carolina state line. The road earned its name from its curves being said to resemble a dragon's tail. It is one of the Top 10 motorcycle rides in the country. That night they stayed at another hotel. Day 3 they went to Fall Creek Falls--the waterfall used in the movie "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves". Next onto Cookeville, another waterfall, and back home.

"
Fall Creek Falls State Park is one of the most scenic and spectacular outdoor recreation areas in America. Laced with cascades, gorges, waterfalls, streams, and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber, the park beckons those who enjoy nature at her finest. Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is the highest waterfall in the eastern United States." (www.tn.gov)

Amazing scenery, awesome trip, and beautiful days.

Okay, maybe I'm a little tempted to go in a motorbike ride like that. That looks amazing!
