Our cute little family of 3 (+2 furry ones) is about to increase...yes there is a little pastry in the making! A bun in the oven! His boys can swim! Porter is going to get a sibling! Pee stick test came out positive! I am with child! I am expecting! I'm getting fat and squishy for a good reason! Does that make it clear enough? =P On New Year's Day I had a tiny suspicion that maybe I was finally pregnant. We had been trying for a few months but go figure in the mean time I had kidney stones to deal with and "surgery" connected with that. When I had x-rays done before and after kidney stone happenings I would have to take a pregnancy test but results were negative. That was a blessing in the way that we were able to go ahead and take care of the stones due to not being pregnant. Still it was a waiting game. Anyway, the next morning following my suspicion (Sunday January 2
nd) I took a pregnancy test the second I got up. I waited a minute and looked at the lines and thought, "Oh, guess it's negative. Isn't there supposed to be a plus sign? Or is it just two straight lines? Is it positive?" I hurried to get the box. Pregnant! Couldn't wait for Aaron to wake up but he took his sweet time.

Me and my pee stick. Yup...smiling at my pee...don't judge. It's what the magic stick told me that made me smile.

Had my first doctor appointment the week after we found out. Due to being a high risk pregnancy the doctor ordered blood work right away and an ultrasound the following week when I was six weeks along. Pictures of an ultrasound picture aren't great, but here is what we had so far...a little egg! The round black area is my uterus and the tiny circle inside that is the yolk sac...inside that is a teeny tiny baby. This may be
TMI (but too bad; I'm not making you read this blog) but the technician couldn't tell much from the "normal" ultrasound (due to the small size of the baby) so she ended up doing a vaginal ultrasound. I didn't even know that existed! The technician and doctor ended up saying everything looked great and measured just right for the stage. The heartbeat was a little low (about 100) but it's hard to get an accurate beat from such a tiny being. She said the important thing is there IS a heartbeat. The next appointment was at 10 weeks where the heartbeat was good and strong. In a week I'll see my OB again (normal appointment) and the week after (at 16 weeks) I will start seeing the
perinatologist. According to measurements and the first day of my last period, the due date is....*drum roll please*............SEPTEMBER 8
th!!! Great because that is my Dad's birthday! Now according to medical science and doctors it's pretty much impossible for me to carry full term (I'm Rh Sensitized which is the reasoning for the high-risk status), but it's a date we can shoot for. Nothing wrong with hoping for a miracle. Maybe I'll try the "cross your legs" method and hope baby stays safe inside.

Porter's red carpet of toilet paper. What happens when it get a little too quiet.
