Cabin Fever Release

The last week of June Porter and I left the house very very few times, with the exception of swim lessons. It's a good thing we had those for pure sanity. July 1st Porter was a good boy (we had popcorn for a treat after his nap and he thought it was the greatest thing), but I had to get him out of the house--we'd been home entirely too long. He was messing with the dogs and chasing them and trying to "play with them", but really he was just making them mad and driving them crazy. We HAD to get out. I gave Porter the option of going to either the park or Jumpin' Jacks (we haven't been there since Easter weekend!), and he said "Jump-jump!" He played basketball for awhile and was so cute; he would come and give me a kiss, high-five ("give five"), and knuckles. We were only there for 45 minutes before he said, "All done." Shocker since I used to have to drag him out of there after hours and hours of play. He seems to get bored faster now that he's older if he doesn't have someone to play with. Before we left I had to use the bathroom so I made him wash his hands too. After he dried his hands he said, "Thanks paper towels." Cutie! It was getting late and Porter had some free coupons from the reading program at the library so I gave him the choice of a hamburger (from In n' Out) or a taco (from Del Taco) for dinner. He chose hamburger, so off we went which meant I didn't have to make dinner. I'm sure he was getting sick of his recent menu: pizza, nuggets, meatballs, corn dogs, and burritos...all foods from our freezer I can make quickly without having to be on my feet for long. I know not healthy; that's a lot of processed food. I have had veggies and fruit for him too. One night he went crazy over soy beans. That's my boy. Fast food isn't healthy either but at least it's a change! We decided to eat at the park as it was starting to get dark. I got a shake for us to share and he kept maneuvering around the table to get it and I kept moving it. We both laughed, and laughed, and laughed. He was so funny! I made him finish his dinner before he got the shake. Porter was so good: he even shared the shake with Teddy! As we sat there finishing dinner I thought he'd want to play on the playground for at least a minute before leaving but he suddenly said to me, "Time to go home; go night-nights." Well that was easy! Okay you perfect kid!!! Blow me away. We went home, took a quick bath (during which he was splashing his butt and when asked why said "I wash my bum!"), and he was ready for bed. He has been brushing his teeth all by himself recently and I am so proud! What a good good boy! I love my son! Can't wait for him to be a big brother; he's going to be wonderful!
