My Audrey

My bestie Audrey (tall, dark haired, native of Chicago) was due June 2nd with her first and I wanted to throw her a baby shower. I planned on April thinking that would be perfect timing. Well little Tommy boy decided so surprise everyone and show up a little early. 10 weeks early! He was born March 21st at 3:40am. He weighed a tiny 3 lbs 2 oz and was 16 inches long (he's going to be a tall boy, just like his daddy). What's crazy is Steve and Audrey came over to our house the previous evening for movie night. We watched "The Other Guys" and talked and talked. Aaron ended up telling a funny story from his mission (who knows how we got on the subject) and I told him to stop making Audrey laugh or he'd put her in labor. Just a joke. They left our house about 10:30pm and about an hour later they were in the hospital (we found that out the next day). Well the next morning I wake up and have a text on my phone from Audrey saying he'd had Tommy! I was so confused and wondered if I had mistaken who the sender was, or if it was April Fool's or something. Nope. Sure enough baby had been born. What a little miracle! The cause of the preterm labor was placental abruption (the separation of the placenta from its attachment to the uterus). I think Audrey said a third of it had detached. Apparently in this case it was just a freak thing that happened. It's dangerous and even fatal, so we're grateful that Tommy came and born in a day and age where technology and NICU's have no problem taking care of a wee one. Anyway, the baby shower was canceled until further notice due to life being turned upside down and Tommy's time in the hospital (he was in the NICU here and later transferred to Primary Children's in SLC for several weeks). The shower finally happened June 25th and Terica and I threw that for her. I had originally planned on doing the majority of the work but go figure I got put on restricted activity which limited my activities. I think it turned out well although summer is not the best time since everyone goes out of town and on vacation. I think Audrey felt the love which is most important! She didn't bring baby to showcase (he stayed home to hang out with daddy), but we all know how cute he is!
Funny that the shower was for one of the non-prego's in the picture. =P (6/25) Sometimes life does not happen as you planned. I'm so thrilled for my Henderson's! Congratulation Steve and Audrey and I love you Tommy boy!
