Little Problem-Solver & Mischief-Maker

My cute Mr. Porter Michael is such a silly kid. Promise the Buzz Lightyear underwear on his head are clean. Teddy of course has to do whatever Porter does, so he too is wearing underwear.
My little problem solver: since he can't reach the basketball rim he pushed the hoop over to the table, carefully put the ball on top so it wouldn't roll off, climbed on the chair to get to the table, and made a basket! He was so proud of himself! "Wook at me!"


Porter got creative and colored on the wall with a blue crayon. I told him to go get something to clean it up with and he got a hot pad. Silly boy.
Groundhog Day! (2/2/11) My little son wanted to get into his banana faster than I was getting there so my little problem-solver just bit into it and pulled. It worked for him.
February 2nd he spent another nap on the floor by his door. He fought it and pulled a flap book apart, then pushed it under, and fell asleep with his hand under the door. Little goober.
Porter loves to help Mommy clean and do chores. He helps me vacuum and everything!
Porter had his friend Nate over one Friday and they went to go watch the garbage man.
Porter's new thing: wrapping up in his towel after a bath and curling up into a ball to lay on the floor.

January 27th Porter officially turned 29 months (aka: almost two and a half years old!). He weighs 28 lbs, wears 6-7 size shoe, 24 month size clothes, size 4 diaper, uses the potty on occasion, and is growing up so fast! He loves to sing ABC's, count 1-10, and LOOOOVES saying and signing his colors.
Porter Time Out: he has to stand in a corner with his nose to the wall. He usually takes it all too well. While he is in time out he says over and over (with the cutest, most precious, innocent voice ever) "Okay Mama." He doesn't need time out very often and it's usually for hitting a friend or making a mess of something he knows he's not supposed to touch (such as the dog food/water).
Porter thinks the vacuum is so much fun; he had a Denise the Menace moment...
One Sunday I let Porter 'have at it' with the Sunday paper. He had fun ripping it all to pieces. Kept him busy.
Sweet little guy. Sunday January 30th he ended up taking a very late nap on the chair in the living room.
Family Home Evening (FHE) on January 31st Aaron gave a lesson on the 2,000 Stripling Warriors from the Book of Mormon. Aaron and Porter dressed up as "warriors" (basically their superhero look with hats on) and Aaron showed Porter the picture while telling him about those brave young men.
One of Porter's new favorite toys are these building blocks. One of Mommy's least favorite thing is picking them all up. One day he picked them up all by himself without even being asked! Love those moments!
Porter likes to be buried in pillows.
"Run spin" with Daddy! Porter calls it that because he gets a running start and then Daddy spins him around. Adorable! February 1st I was SO PROUD when Porter used the potty (#1 & #2) all by himself! He usually says "poo poo potty" and I take him to the bathroom, but this time he went to the bathroom all by himself and did his business! Afterward I asked if he wanted his "Elmo diaper" on or his big boy underwear. He opted for the underwear and wore them for the evening having one accident. Well, two actually. One of the floor (when we were getting his potty treat) and the other while wearing the undies. I love this little boy. He is such a smart kid and a problem-solver like his Daddy. And true to being a toddler has to get into some mischief now and again. =P

Friends, Cereal Wars & Sick Day

January 10th we went out with our friends the Hirschi family for FHE and took Porter's best friend/cousin "E-why" with us. The boys had so much fun!




January 7th Rach, my friend Leslie, and I went to McD's for a breakfast play date. To goal was to get the kids out of the house and play in the play area while we tried the new (free with a coupon) oatmeal.

That night Porter had three friends over (Russell boys and friend Savannah) and we had fun! The kids watched a movie and played with toys, then we ate chicken nuggets for dinner, and after we cleaned up toys we danced and played musical chairs. It was hilarious! Cute little children.

January 8th Porter got to attend his friend Reese's 5th birthday party. Such a cute girl! She loves my Porter which is adorable. That was a busy week for Porter and playdates and with friends! =)

January 14th Porter and Daddy ate "cereal milk" (what Porter calls it) and ended up having a "cereal war". Porter dumped his bowl into Aaron's and they shared their cereal. Then they were knocking the cereal off of each other's spoons.

January 15th Porter was one sick little puppy. Threw up a few times and was happy when Daddy came home for a bit for snuggles. Daddy is the best remedy for any sickness. Makes a Porter-son happy.

Kisses All Better & Big Boy

Porter LOVES helping Daddy fix things, and when it came time to fix the toilet it was no different. (December 30th) Porter had to have a glove on and his own tool. It was to say the least...ADORABLE.

Then Aaron installed a much needed bathroom side mirror-cabinet (to de-clutter the sink). Porter wanted to get in on the action and help clean the mirrors. My little Porter is really a great helper.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this age (Porter is almost 2 1/2) because a kiss makes everything better and immediately stops the crying. This day Porter stubbed his toe so when he started crying I asked him where it hurt. He pointed to his toes and said "Right there." I gave his foot a kiss and like magic..."All better!" Then Porter gave himself a kiss on the toes. CUTE!

December 20 I took Porter to see his doctor (Dr. Cain) and he made a little friend in the waiting room (we were there for awhile). I took him in for a bad cold and persistent cough that was waking him up at night and interrupting naps. Doc said it wasn't allergies, but could be either a sinus infection or asthma. Porter is too young to be tested for asthma so he suggested we treat him with an antibiotic and if he was better at the end, then it was probably sinus infection. If not we would talk and go from there. After 10 day of medicine Porter had four glorious days snot-free and cough-free, but then got something again. Called the doc and he said the days of health were a good sign so let's try a different antibiotic. We have and Porter's been good the past couple weeks! Let's keep it that way.

My sweet family taking a nap together; everyone fits in the Lazy Boy...except me. Aaron has to feel loved. These three (son and two dogs) worship him. They just love him and can't wait until he gets home everyday.
Don't mind the little man. Just enjoying some good reading material while doing his business. (picture taken December 21st) Such a big boy!

New St. George Airport

January 12 was a very big day for St. George. The new airport opened and it was apparently 20 years in the making and planning. Aaron was there working security and I really could have cared less about going to the opening of something like this...until Aaron told me a member of the first Presidency of the church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) would be there. I said "I HAVE TO GO!" President Dieter F. Uchtdorf was present to give the dedicatory prayer. Aaron was one of his "body guards" if you will. How awesome is that!?!?! He got to chit-chat with him a couple times. Aaron did tell him I said hi and President Uchtdorf said "Bless her heart." Now I know he would have said that about anyone, but still meant something to me. I wasn't too far from the podium for the dedication; maybe 15-20 feet. It was so neat! I could not believe the number of people that went and how crowded it was; the newspaper later reported that 5,000 people attended the airport opening day and when I left after the dedication I passed MILES of stopped cars waiting to get in. Man am I glad I knew someone on the inside! I didn't think there was anything at or about the airport to be worth all the fuss, but whatever. I just enjoyed seeing and hearing President Uchtdorf and getting a parking spot right outside the front doors (only went 45 minutes early) and leaving without any waiting or lines. It was worth it to me to go see an Apostle of God. There really are advantages to living in Utah.
