Thanksgiving 2010

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Yesterday we enjoyed a perfectly wonderful and delightful holiday with Aaron's parents and sister. All of the other siblings/families were with their in laws for the holiday. It was very different having so few of us (only 2 of the 6 Bergquist kids present) but it ended up being so pleasant and relaxing. We missed everyone of course, it was just different without the chaos associated with the masses. We spent the morning getting ready, final prep in the afternoon, dinner at 3pm, light clean up, naps, dessert, and hanging around. Stuffed and happy ending! I have so much to be thankful for: family, wonderful husband, perfect son, warm house, food, necessities of life, knowledge of the gospel & Jesus Christ, membership in His church, the Temple, scriptures, prayer, great friends, health, our dogs, a job, service opportunities, eternal marriage, little pleasures in life (hot chocolate), sickness (makes me appreciate the health more), blessings, hobbies, etc. The table so beautifully decorated; it always is. That's one of the best parts about dinner as a family.
Pumpkin cakes
I brought a few of my Thanksgiving decoration from home to decorate the food with. They had to be seen somewhere since they only made it out of the box the day before. All of my fall decor (pumpkins, leaves) have been out since October but the rest got neglected.
Have had these little pilgrims for years and years. Made them forever ago at some church activity.

Oh yum yum yum. Turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberries, stuffing, sweet potato pudding, jello, rolls, sparkling cider and "monkey brains" (pink jello salad-a Taylor family favorite and tradition). For dessert (all homemade) banana cream pie, pecan pie, cherry pie, and mini pumpkin cakes.

Porter refused to take a nap and ended up napping on Daddy while he and Papa watched the football game. All the girls took naps while babies slept and I took mine curled up on the couch right next to my boys. Football, kids, war...I can sleep through it all.

Porter got a haircut today! He was due. The older he gets the more behaved and patient he is; what a good boy!

When Daddy is in charge (I went to the hospital for a follow-up X-ray from the lithotripsy six weeks ago) Porter often times gets to take his nap on the couch. He moved around because his head used to be on that pillow. He ended up parallel with the pillow versus perpendicular.

Zion Park over Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving week we had a blast because my twin Stacey, husband Matt, and baby Simon came out to play. One day we did a small hike in Zion National Park and it was beautiful. I could just eat those Simon cheeks! The babies were really good. =) Two things I love: nature and my family.

Thanksgiving goodies

Gobble, gobble, gobble. Got together with two of my bestest buddies to have some good ol' fashion seasonal-holiday-festive fun. We made these turkey cupcakes and Oreo turkeys. How fun is that?! I'm LOVING house-wife life and not working. Allows me to spend all my time with my precious little son and to do little fun things like this that I never had time to do with studying or working. It's the little things in life.

This is my favorite Thanksgiving goodie...Porter-son!!! I love this sweet snuggly kid. He is getting so active and fun. He loves to play in the dog food and dog water (he squeals in frustration when I stand between him and that), moving furniture (he is constantly pushing around his Leap Frog table or the kitchen chairs or bar stools), and he just loves his puppies, his Daddy, and milk.

Have to put in another plug for my friend and visiting teaching companion; she made these CUTE cards for Thanksgiving. Her info is in a Halloween post.







When I went to pick up Porter from my friends house (she babysat him while I attended my sis-in-laws hip hop dance concert which was AWESOME and she was AMAZING!!!), he handed me this baby doll. I think he wanted me to put it to bed cause that's what you do with tired babies. Look at my poor buddy! So tired.


And for all you Twilight fans, I took pictures of the "New Moon" tree at the Jubilee of Trees. Porter and I went for a NICU reunion and he had his picture taken with Santa (not posted) and he cried. It was 30 mins from nap time...too close.

Our Bergquist family picture

Over Thanksgiving we had Bergquist family pictures taken (by Miriam) and these are a few of our little family pictures. Baby Porter is 3 months here and so perfect and precious. Yes we wanted the dogs in a few pictures because they are a part of our family. These two little Chihuahua's are a highlight of our lives. Chia is on my lap in the pink collar (we got her in May) and Chancho is on Aaron's lap (got him right before our vacation in Costa Rica last summer), which is fitting because that little dog worships him. Talk about man's best friend and loyal dog. He loves Aaron and follows him around, craves any attention from him, will do anything he says, cries when Aaron leaves...it's cute. Chia is our little monster. She is so sweet and loving, but when she wants to play, she can go a little crazy. Back to the pictures: we did take pictures of just the three of us and the entire Bergquist family, but I don't have those on my computer. I couldn't get all of the pictures from the CD to download--only 8 of them. Until next time! :)
