Nicknames and Duties

Here is Porter last night in his green bath for St. Patrick's Day. He thought it was pretty neat; of course I can't get him to smile for the camera (if only Daddy had been home). Onto other "hot topics", Porter has a few "nicknames": "Port-Port" is a famous, often-used one. I believe it was given to him by cousin Lincoln. One of my friends little 2 year old calls him "Hoarder" and another friend's kids think his name is "Quarter". How cute is that?!?! As mentioned in the past Porter likes to help me do chores but he has three chores that are all his own: putting his dirty clothes in the "dirties" (laundry basket in the laundry room), dirty dishes in the sink (have to hold him up but he does it), and what I call "diaper duty". That one he took upon himself. He loves to be the one to put his diaper in the Diaper Genie (or throw the plastic bag outside if it's a super stinky diaper). My little 18 month old is so cute and growing up fast! Does that ever stop being such a shock?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Me in my green today! Shirt says "Everybody loves an Irish girl". Not that I'm Irish, it's just an appropriate shirt for today. I also have a shamrock pin that my hair is trying to hide. Back beast! Tonight Porter will get a green bath (yet another use for food coloring) and have green cookies. I LOVE being a Mom!!! It's so fun! Have had a great day so far too; spin class, recycled, Mom and Tots at the park (Porter LOVED playing at the park), and the day isn't over! More festivities and fun to enjoy. Aaron and Porter came to the rec center too. After Aaron finished his work out he took Porter to the gym and "played" basketball. Porter loved it!!!! He is never happier than when he's with his daddy. Now he says "basketball" but comes out more like "ba-baa".

Porter learned to open the door to the garage all by himself last week. It's a whole new world to discover now!

Family Random-ness

Me and my green shirt today. =) You'll read about why in a minute.
Mr. Porter likes to get in the kitchen drawers and play with the oven mitts. Such a cutie!
This week is St. Patrick's so just for fun I decided to wear green all week. This was my green shirt I wore yesterday (above--I'm pointing to the green in case you missed it...hee hee). Below is Porter and I after church Sunday (I also had green shoes on below my jean skirt).
Porter likes to go for rides in the laundry basket. Yesterday he emptied it, brought it to me, and pointed inside (meaning he wanted to be in there). I took him for laundry basket rides and he LOVED it.
Sorry this picture below is sideways but we thought it was funny how we found him sleeping. Porter took a 3 hour + 20 minute nap yesterday after playing hard at Nana's house. He would have gone longer but we woke him up for dinner. Way to wear him out Nana!

This is a picture that belongs with the "Mini Indy" post. He had all knee-length socks, running shoes, St. G Marathon shirt, short shorts, medals, headband, and wrist bands. Was quite the sight. Man is not afraid to dress up, have fun, and show some team spirit.

Mini-Indy 2010

Mini-Indy 2010 baby! For those of you who don't know what it is, it's an annual fundraiser for Dixie United Way and this is its 10th annual. About 30 teams participated coming from around the country and a few from other countries. The event is hosted by SkyWest Airlines, City of SG, and DSC. This year the PD represented the City of St. G with the SG Marathon as the theme by way of promotion. Aaron and some of his buddies participated in 2007; they were the Mini-Indy overall Grand Champions! This year Aaron was the main driver and this is a picture of the team (missing the mechanic). Porter got to enjoy the race car and he loved it. Daddy also took him on a VIP ride. This is me at the banquet last night in my marathon gear (shirt and medals). I have a lot more pictures from the banquet and the race but they are still on the camera. The races are still supposed to be going on but were just barely cancelled due to the extreme sudden weather (rain, hailstorm and winds). What a great weekend: my 1 year old nephew in Nashville is having his party today (I am invited and will participate by way of Skype), birthday breakfast for one of my very bestest yesterday, bought seeds with 2 of my super-great-terrific friends so we can all start gardens, super fun banquet for the Mini-Indy last night (Porter got to spend time with Nana & Papa), Mini-Indy races and lunch today while hanging out with good friends of ours, temple sealing of my friend and her family tonight, teaching a lesson in YW about being a peacemaker tomorrow, and lots of good quality family time.

Busy Body Boy

Porter has had a busy morning. To the gym to play in daycare with friends and toys (Mommy on treadmill), story time at the library (just have to get our dose of his beloved "teddy bear" song), and a short visit to the park for Mom and Tots (too cold and windy to stay long). After a nap it was run around and make some messes and "help" Mom. These are a few snap shots of his day. He was so tired after his busy morning he fell asleep in the car with teddy over his face. Precious! Then after his nap he was all over but always spends time in his "reading corner" with his books. When I do laundry he likes to help either put them in the washer, the dryer, or in the basket to be folded and put away. He is such a happy little helper. In the picture he is standing on the step ladder to put the dirty clothes in the washer. Porter is too cute at this age. He LOVES to spend time in the garage (especially when Daddy is there), play with his Little Tikes tool bench, drag around a baseball bat, and getting the newspaper from the driveway. Some of his favorite songs right now are "If You're Happy and You Know It" and the "Teddy Bear" song from the library. He is also very much into bubbles. This week we've started weaning off the bottle. Yesterday I started by putting water in the bottle and milk in the sippy. He drinks most of the water (loves that bottle) but then goes for the sippy. Staying hydrated! Still loves to watch "Little Einsteins" (the few episodes we have) and has recently picked up a love for brushing his teeth. Mostly started loving it when I gave him toothpaste to brush with instead of water only. He even tries to spit it out like I showed him. I love my little busy body boy.

Munchkin on a Leash

My little Porter has a monkey on his back and it's pretty dang cute. These pictures are a month or two old, but sooooo cute! Got this for a good deal at a consignment shop ($3 after a coupon) and we haven't NEEDED to use it yet but I know it will come in handy when we travel and now that he is a full-fledged toddler. It sure does provide us with some good solid entertainment: he runs around dragging the monkey tail behind him and Chia loves the game of chase. As you can see they also play tug-o-war.

Head ware and other randomness

Past couple weeks have found more fun things for Porter to try on at DI. One day it was a Goofy hat and magic Mickey Mouse ears! The blue hat with the two "pom-poms" I got from Children's Place and I think it's so cute but you all can see what Porter thinks about it. ;) I love that it's one of those hats with the chin straps so he hasn't figured out how to take it off on his own...yet.

Saw this at Target today: total flash back!!!! I had this exact Barbie!!! When Stacey and I were young we lived, ate, and breathed Barbie.
Kind of a dumb random thing but I took a picture of a lunch we had couple weeks ago. It was one of my wonderful Aaron's days off and we had a BLT, celery, carrots, chips, and a pickle. It was quite pleasant and I felt pretty healthy. (Not that the chips or bacon are super healthy, but that's a descent amount of veggies with the celery, carrots, lettuce and tomato.) Sorry the picture is sideways.
Yesterday Aaron and I went snowboarding and we still haven't learned the sunscreen lesson. I can hear Michelle shaking her head and finger at me now. See my goggle line? Figured it just looks like blush-gone-wrong.
