General Conference April 2011

On Saturday the April 2nd and Sunday the 3rd we watched General Conference. I always love conference weekend! Every first weekend in April and October we have General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and it is broadcast for the world to see. (www.lds.org) The living prophet of God on the Earth (currently Thomas S. Monson), his counselors, and the 12 apostles (and other General Authorities), speak to us from the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It can be seen through satellite transmission, on TV for surrounding areas, or on the Internet. Since we don't have TV/cable we watch it from our office on our computer. I like to go to the conference center when possible (we're in the same state so why not; it's an awesome experience!) as we did back in October. There are always 5 sessions, each 2 hours in duration. Both days we hear inspiring talks 10am-12pm (MDT) and 2-4pm. Saturday evening there is a Priesthood Session for the men 6-8pm. The month following conference we get the Ensign magazine that contains all of the talks, but you can look them all up online any time and watch them again.
My boys watching conference.
Thank goodness for modern technology and the ease of the Internet. This is a picture of my computer screen that I took while President Monson was speaking. He truly is a prophet of God.
Porter didn't pay really good attention the whole time but he was a very very good boy watching cartoons or playing toys while we watched the morning sessions. During the afternoon sessions he was down for a nap. So much easier to take notes during those times.
In between sessions Porter played in the garage with his toys and a laundry basket. Cute boy!
Aaron teaching Chia to type and take conference notes on the computer. =P I'm incredibly grateful for conference and look forward to that special biannual meeting.
